Research Blog: Commerical Conventions

The commercial that I decided to do is Gatorade. I was deciding between that and an energy drink but I have Gatorade at home so I figured why not. When I look at Gatorade commercials, there are athletes. Basketball players, football players, tennis, soccer, etc. I see people sweating then someone goes and bring then some Gatorade. As soon as they take a sip of the drink, their energy just boosts up. The costumes would be basketball shorts. Sometimes they have no shirts on so they can show their muscles. They would be really sweaty. They have good running shoes also. The props would be the Gatorade, some type of ball, a water bottle, etc. The players would be working hard just to show how much the Gatorade is working. Conventions and Codes in Gatorade commercials would sometimes be in slow motion so you can see how intense the game is. They would have a suspense noise when it comes to 2 people/teams going against each other. There is also a motivational speaker in the background explaining why you need Gatorade. You can also hear a crowd in a back, cheering them on. They would zoom in on the Gatorade drink and the player that is drinking it. Most of the times, there are famous players like Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Michael Jordan, etc. Slogans that can be heard are "Be Like Mike, Drink Gatorade", or "Gatorade, is it in you?" They do this so the people that look up to them will go out and buy Gatorade too.
