Filming Blog: Struggles

Image
Thank you God! That's all I have to say because we got this done. There was so many problems for this music video. I wanted to film on 11/23 or 11/24. On the 23rd my friend Evana wasn't available. She was needed for the video because she was playing one of the girls. I would have been in the video and replaced Evana, and Akiel could have been the camera man. We would need a boy to replace him but my brother was out of town. The 24th didn't work because Akiel went out of town to visit his dad. It was Thanksgiving week so I understood.  I was very frustrated because I didn't want to do it last minute, just incase something came up. We wouldn't have been ale to do it today, because Akiel's a football player. He has practice afterschool, so it would have been really late. So we did it Sunday, 11/29 which is when he came back. Evana couldn't make that date again because she had church all day. My other friend could only do it after 5:00 because of work. I didn

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

In the first scene, I put the 2 bestfriends talking. Evana is playing Keyshia and she will be telling her bestfriend how her man didn't call her back. In the second scene, it'll be Evana singing the song for a few seconds. The third scene will be Evana's bestfriend telling her she's "tripping" and that he loves her. The 4th scene would go back to Evana singing. The 5th scene is Evana, her bestfriend, and Akiel at an event. Akiel plays the boyfriend. They are talking, laughing and what not. The next scene would be Evana singing once again. The 7th scene is everybody toasting to something, but Akiel and Evana's bestfriend give each other the side eye like something is going on. The next scene is Evana singing again. The 9th scene is mind-blowing. It will be Akiel and Evana's bestfriend kissing. Akiel and Evana are dating. The scene after that is Evana singing again. The next scene is Evana catching them. She starts crying and is trying to fight her best

. The song we have chosen is Trust and Believe, By Keyshia Cole. We picked this song because it has a good storyline about relationships. Genre:  The genre of our song is  Contemporary R&B and  R&B/Soul . We chose this genre to get into the melody and talk about a deep and soulful manner. C- In the original music video, Keyshia Cole wears a red silk shirt while her ex-lover is wearing a tight black long-sleeved shirt. We are going to try and replicate that clothing. L-  In the video, there are different settings. In the house, the lighting is a bright type of lighting. Outside is regular street lighting. A- My close friend whose helping us out will be portraying Keyshia Cole while Akiel is playing her lover who's cheating on her with her best friend. M-  In the video, the woman portraying Keyshia cole will have on light makeup. We will also have on little jewelry to match the original video.  P-  Props in the video could be Akiel's bed, gold chain, and a jean jacket. S-

Planning for my Music Video

Image
I think I'm starting to get excited for this music video. I have a visual in my head, I can't wait to put it to use. We're doing Trust and Believe by Keyshia Cole. So for the costumes, there isn't much to it since this is like a love song. The girls will have wigs in their hair and some casual clothes. Akiel would also have on some casual clothes. For another scene, he would have some gym shorts with no shirt on, and one of the girls will have on bedroom clothing. For props, there would be a phone, for when the 2 girls talk to each other, and there would be a car. The location would be in various places. One would be outside for one scene, one would be in Akiel's bedroom, and one would be in the car. The schedule would look like this. November 17th, 2020 is when we planned and researched the details in our music video. November 19th, 2020 is when we would create our storyboard. That is us planning and creating the different scenes for the video. November 21st is whe

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
I seen this project and I immediately got stressed out. I know nothing about music videos how am I supposed to do one? If I took an hour for 30 seconds, how long would it take for 1 minute? At first I thought we had to write our own song for some reason. When my teacher said I can work with someone, I thought of one person. My friend Akiel Williams. He's also in this class but a different period. The reason I chose him because he is a close friend of mine and we live near each other. He was also helping me with my last project; the commercial. He's the reason why I got different angles in my last commercial. The song we chose was Trust and Believe by Keyshia Cole. This was not our first choice. Our teacher said the song had to tell a story. So I immediately thought of this song called "Rico Story". Then I remembered it had to be school board appropriate. So I thought of this old song from this group called JJ FAD "SUPERSONIC". I didn't choose it because

 1. This project represents social groups because this is what people go by. When it comes to buying products, people look at reviews. They look at who uses it.  This represented how when people drink Gatorade, they get better. When people see that, they will want to buy it too. 2. This engages with the audience because it reels them in. Almost everyone likes basketball. If they don't like basketball I know they like sports. At least 1 sport. If I was to send this out, it would be on television. People watch television and that's where commercials are. 3. Well I had help from people because I didn't even know how to use the app at first. I learned how to edit. I learned how to add transitions between videos. I learned how to put music/voiceovers in the background of the videos and I also learned how to add effects on the video. 4. Well I used my phone to edit. I downloaded iMovie from the app store. For the music, I went on YouTube and played the background music as a voice

My Gatorade Commercial

Well I would say this was a success. It depends what you think is a success though. So for my project, we have Gatorade. The main reason I chose this one is because it was easy. Just being honest. I feel like if I knew how to edit like a professional, this would be able to go on television. I'm just saying. My favorite part was filming it to be honest. The hardest part for me was figuring out which editing app to use. Filming was kind of easy because it only took like 45 minutes. I expected it to take like 2 hours. The editing was hard because I never edited before in my life. With the first project, all I had to do was insert videos and put a few transitions. This one I had to put music in the background, cut some clips, do voice overs, and sound effects. I looked up an instrumental that's always in basketball videos. Then some of the sound effects I needed, they didn't have it on iMovie. So I went on You-tube, typed in the certain sound effect, and did a voiceover. I had

Editing Blog: Making it Look Smooth

Editing was very tough because my videos were kind of choppy.  Like the parts where I stopped recording it was kind of hard for me to fix it up. So first I edited some of the videos. I had to cut some of it short because it just looked staged. Like there was a huge pause. Also at the end of some of them, she looks back at me to see if I'm done recording or not so I had to cut that out. I did all of this on my phone. I'm trying to show that it isn't staged. Then there were these 2 videos that were supposed to be together. My friend and I took a video at the same time from different angles so you can see facial expression. So I had to figure out how to put them together.  I had to add some transitions to make the commercial look little better. I would say I should have looked over the videos before we left the park but the light was going out so yeah. The video of her drinking the Gatorade, I screen recorded a video off of You tube of lightning. That was to show how as soon

Filming Blog: Basketball Court at the Park

This was harder then I thought. I had planned to film around 12:00, we ended up filming at 5:00 because people were just late. Then all 4 people couldn't come, so we just did it with 2 people. I had the people wear gym shorts or joggers, regular shirts and tennis shoes. The props were the basketball and the Gatorade. For the makeup, all you needed was sweat so I splashed a little bit of water on them. I didn't want to make it too obvious since they were just starting. Most of the lighting had went out by 5:00 because the time had changed. I would have done it before, but you know.. work. So the first scene, I filmed the Gatorade with a pan movement. I did this one in my house because I felt like there was better lighting. I needed the people to know what this commercial was about of course. (12) The next scene was simple. Then I did the third scene, which was them going down the court. I just followed them with the camera a little  I only had to refilm it 2 times. The next sce
